Washington Commanders Expected to Sign Jacoby Brissett
Washington Makes Move at Quarterback
The Washington Commanders are expected to sign free-agent quarterback Jacoby Brissett to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports.
The Commanders made a move at quarterback in the fourth quarter of their Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, starting Sam Howell over veteran Carson Wentz.
Howell started at quarterback against the San Francisco 49ers despite being benched earlier in the week because Wentz was injured.
Howell was replaced in the third quarter Sunday by Brissett, who led the Commanders on three straight scoring drives.
For the second straight game, Brissett replaced Howell at quarterback.
Brissett's Stats
Brissett has thrown for 2,787 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions this season.
He has also rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns.
Howell's Stats
Howell has thrown for 398 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions this season.
He has also rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown.
Outlook for Commanders
The Commanders are 7-7-1 this season and are currently in the running for a wild-card berth.
The addition of Brissett gives the Commanders a more experienced quarterback to lead their offense.
Brissett is expected to start for the Commanders in their Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns.
