The BayArena, formerly known as the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion until 1998, is a football stadium located in the Küppersteg district of Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has been the home ground of Bayer 04 Leverkusen since its construction between 1956 and 1958.
Location and Directions
The BayArena is centrally located in Leverkusen, situated along Bismarckstraße in the north-eastern part of the city. It is easily accessible by public transportation, with the Leverkusen Mitte railway station and several bus lines located within walking distance. For those driving, there are ample parking facilities available in the vicinity of the stadium.
History
Leverkusen's stadium has a rich history dating back to 1907, when the club first established its home ground on the banks of the Dhünn river. In 1956, the construction of a new stadium began, and two years later, the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion was officially opened. Over the years, the stadium has undergone several renovations and expansions, including a major upgrade in 1998 when it was renamed the BayArena.
